Diesel electrification funds available
If you’re thinking about upgrading your fleet, the Colorado Clean Diesel Program (CCDP) has funding available for replacing certain types of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment with newer, cleaner technologies.
CCDP is currently accepting grant applications for equipment such as electric terminal tractors, construction equipment, transportation refrigeration units, airport ground support equipment, lawn mowers, farm tractors, bucket trucks, snow groomers, and idle-reduction technologies.
CCDP at a glance:
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Grants may be up to 45% of the project cost, depending on the type of equipment. Applicants must be prepared to scrap an existing diesel vehicle or piece of equipment. Adequate electrical infrastructure to support the equipment must exist or be installed on-site. That’s how City of Lafayette employees described their previous diesel-powered bucket truck; it had become a burden to operate and relied on the dying art of stick shift. Yet for all the essential work it did, the diesel-powered truck was cumbersome, unsafe, and likely older than some of the folks operating it.
