| Optimism about the clean freight future |
Amid the uncertainty of a new trade and regulatory environment, the executive director of the North American Council for Freight Efficiency finds solace in a recent survey of 500 transportation decision makers. In this column in Fleet Owner, he notes that 87% of shippers are still setting long-term sustainability-related transportation goals for this year, even as incentives are being removed. “But no matter the root cause, delaying or deemphasizing sustainability is a shortsighted approach for U.S. shippers … Plus, pulling back on sustainability could leave shippers at a disadvantage relative to competitors that continue to prioritize sustainability in their freight strategy.” |

| Rivian is now selling electric vans to anyone who wants one |
Rivian’s electric van is now available to be purchased by anyone with a commercial fleet. Rivian inked a $1 billion deal with Amazon in 2019 to sell its vans exclusively to the e-commerce giant. The agreement ended prematurely, although Amazon says it’s still committed to buying 100,000 vans and remains Rivian’s largest shareholder. Rivian vans come in two sizes and two prices: the RCV 500 starts at $79,900, while the RCV 700 starts at $83,900. More info here… |

The New Terminal One at New York’s JFK International Airport will boast the world’s first fully electric fleet of ground handling equipment. With the short distances driven at limited speeds under extreme loads, ground handling and support equipment at airports present a nearly ideal use case for battery-electric vehicles.
